Move Along

Well market is pretty much flat these days. Trend bound on the 10 minute SPY chart, between 110.665 and 112.01. We kissed the 112.00 level and have pulled back down the the low of the day of 110.92. At the time of this writing SPY is trading at 111.199. Remember the days when the Economic Data would make the markets so crazy. Days long going. Scapl'em if you got'em.

UUP is currently trading in a trying to filled the intraday gap. S1 22.02 up to 22.13, if we can push up to the 22.1699 this would close the intraday gap open from this morning. On a 10 minute chart. . . .

SPY vs US Dollar

SPY R1 is 111.057 and S1 is 110.375 on a 10-min chart. Dollar is helping out a little which is in a tight range on the 10-min chart of R1 22.345 and S1 22.2885. We have very light volume and the market is down to sideways, if we can break on the 2:00 Fed Notes to the upside we may have a good sail into the Unemployment Numbers and New Homes Sales on Wednesday, time will tell. Play the hand the market dealt ya.

Oregon does it again. 2OT over Arizona. BSC raking # 8 from # 11.

Dollar Tanked

Well as the dollar is tanking the market is rising, which is a good thing so far so good. One and half days left until T-Day. Wednesday we have the Initial Unemployment numbers and that is pretty much it for the larger number that should be effecting Friday's session. Most ppl will not be back on Friday so if we do take a hit it probably will not be so bad.

SPY is coming into some resistance at the 111.74 level, more over if we can close above 110.992 and catch a bid to the upside in the next one and half days then 112 is possible relatively quick . . . It appears if we can hold this level gap fill would have the prior gaps from 11/10 - 11/20. Key is for the dollar to drop again for the next one and half days and short covering into the T-Day event, this should be good for the markets . . .

Keep the powder dry . . .

Spectrum

Sick!!

Charts Of The Third Kind

At a glance, the two charts look the same. As in one is going up and the other is going down, Ben and the boys have been propping the dollar. Concerns about the pace of a recovery have dogged the market's eight-month rally but with the nation's unemployment rate now above 10 percent for the first time in 26 years and new worries about housing, the government also will revise its early estimate that said the economy grew.

So what is the connection with rise in the dollar and drop in the market (spy), the stronger dollar can hurt commodities prices and sales of U.S. exporters, whose goods become more expensive overseas when the dollar rises.

Will the dollar start to climb and put the spy out of commission for awhile? Amazing!! There was no good Eco-news this week to say the least about and the market ran with it to the downside. Can the govt continue to use these tacky tacky to prop the dollar. If you have ever gone down to the 1 min charts, it is bots wars.

On that note: Volume will be light again next week because of Thanksgiving. Even with the holiday, the week brings a flurry of reports on home sales, unemployment, consumer confidence and demand for big-ticket manufactured goods.

Ding, Ding round $64 thousand dollar question.

The US Dollar was on the move to the upside (comments from Ben B. ongoing) and the Housing Numbers - Bad, Bigger and Better? Well the next shoe is dropping for Residential Housing Market and Commercial is not far behind it, as well. You can not fudge the numbers for to long, the market was taken a back, but the US Dollar is the key to this market.

No Trades - Friday

Due to the New York winning the World Series it was better to be on the sidelines, then be in the markets. As soon as the Parade started all the volume and options stopped trading in a normal fashion. I thought is was maybe bad data feed, nope it was not. The first 30-minutes would have been profitable, but would have had to held over the weekend, if it did not work out or if traded any other time during the day.

Unemployment was bad and then a bounce. Hummm. . . . Looking to see a slow to strong start on Monday morning, after the weekend of NY parties. Time well tell and we will have to see.

Let's go Oregon!! Up next: At Washington Oct 24. The Oregon coaches are tight-lipped on whether Masoli will be able to return to the lineup. However, Oregon has two weeks to prep for Washington (in Seattle).

Audiable Notes: Husky Stadium (72,500): The sound bounces off the roof, rocks the stadium and settles over the playing field. Compared to the Autzen Stadium (54,000): It’s non-stop, eardrum-rattling, jet-engine level, false-start causing noise.

Flat To Down

Well the market was pretty much flat to down for the day . . . All where looking forward to AA earnings (at the end of trading day) and the Initial Job Number due out Oct 8, 2009 (before the market opens). At the time of this posting AA was a positive number and the afterhours trading was brisk, however, we know that the afterhours trading it pretty a no event thing. Volume is always thin and professional will be possibly selling into the open on the following day.

AIG and GS were good for scalping at the open and then went flat for the day . . .

Chart courtesy of http://www.trixychart.com/ ( click to enlarge )

Chart courtesy of http://www.stockcharts.com ( click to enlarge )
Update to AIG battlefield. The stock received another downgrade from a major player, however the stock has been pulling it own weight, into the close it started a major rally, light volume and possible short-covering. Traders are starting to hedge their bets with Calls and Puts. Note: That the stock was dumped at the alter, the last 15-minutes or so. Maybe the party is over for a bit, and we drop it to the $35 per share level . . .

Chart courtesy of http://www.trixychart.com/ ( click to enlarge )
This is a 5-Day chart for AIG with a Daily Chart. AIG showed extreme weakness, compared to the over all market. However, this stock will turn on a dime, if it has to. Case in point Sep 9, open a short position with good analysis to the dowside, we thought it would continue and we got caught with our hands in the cookie jar, before dinner time. As you can see, from the 5-Day that the stock bounced right off a support level of $36 per share and has not looked back since then. A little run and bump with Timothy speaking in front of a committee. AIG ended down for the day. GS was positive for the day.

Chart courtesy of http://www.stockcharts.com/ ( click to enlarge )
AIG appears to be forming a island reverse with a bear flag attached to it. Let's see what will happen in a the next couple of days, as options expiration is next week for the Sep Options.
BTW AIG was and is apparently try to sell partnerships (instead of sell it completely) in the remaining asset they have, inorder to payback the TARP money the owe the TAXPAYERS. Also, they are looking to do an IPO for one of their companies as well.

Disclosure: The author purchased shares of AIG Wednesday at an average price of $36.00 This article should not be considered a recommendation to buy or sell securities and readers should conduct their own due diligence prior to making any investment decisions. The focus will also be on the Federal Reserve, which will release a statement on Wednesday afternoon at the end of its two-day interest rate-setting meeting. The central bank is expected to hold rates near zero . . .

The government's July retail sales data as well as quarterly scorecards from major retailers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N), J.C. Penney (JCP.N) and Macy's (M.N), will give a snapshot of the industry and how consumer spending is faring in the recession. So far, consumers have tightened their belts and shopped mostly for just the bare necessities as worries about job security take precedence

On the 5-day chart SPY, we are looking for support around the 101 level; however, GS was not acting the way is should have.

On the 5-day chart of GS, we have done a backfill, all the way back to Monday Aug 3. closing numbers.

Watchlist Updated - Closed of Aug 7

Below is an update on our watchlist from Aug 2, 2009; with the market ripping up this we pretty easy sail. But stop-loss should needed to be used in an case. Not bad for a week worth of work. A range was given on the last two securities, due to the unclear direction the market wanted to go. In this case, we would have purchased and re-purchased if the securities has broken thur those support target, basis of our calculations.

Taken a Break

The watchlist has been working pretty well, only a few have not panned out. Friday is going to be unevetful as all the numbers that are reporting will be at 8:30AM ET. We will have time to digest for a full 30 mins before the markets open. As of time of post we are currently lower and maybe see some proping up tomorrow. Friday should be flat to up . . .

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Thi is a list we are currently watching to the Monday Aug 3 - Aug 7.

Looking to see what these securities will do for the week with all the EcoNews coming out in the next couple of days.

While the report itself is confidential, at the conclusion of the report, the DGE recommended, among other things, that: (i) the Company's joint venture partner in Macau be found to be unsuitable; (ii) the Company be directed to disengage itself from any business association with its joint venture partner in Macau; (iii) the Company's due diligence/compliance efforts be found to be deficient; and (iv) the New Jersey Commission hold a hearing to address the report. July Closeout

Today the markets are dropping like a rock at the time of this posting, we are currently hold a long and short position GS which is currently under water. Meaning we are in our dead zone, not making a profit, however, showing a loss. GS need to come down to our new target of $157.50 level low or shoot back up to the $165 level high.

On a positive note: July was a good month for us, as we posted a 44% gain, with 9 trades completed for the month. The above open trades are being rolled over to August, due to the time of a bad execution on our part of re-entry of a call position, in front of housing and Big Ben speech, also the CFTC hearnings which is GS bread and butter. Big Ben is speaking after the markets are closed today, as well. h

Well, we did it anyways and (purchased calls) should have sold them same day for a mere $60 per share profit, however, greed and hope, came into play. Housing numbers were good for a min. and we broke the rule and got caught with our hands in the golden honey pot, like captain hook line and sinker. We thought this was taken care of this greed and hope thing, but we still in a lot of work on it.

Watchlist Update

The watchlist did pretty well, consider this 10% run in the last couple of weeks in trading days, the overall market, 6-month highs. I know it could have gone either way, most of the earnings are superior to the revenues. Meanings all of the analysts numbers are low, but companies are using cost cutting to blowout these numbers the analysts are giving them. Looking at the Revenue side the are either flat or missed.

Looking for the market to take some profits off the table going into the weekend, look for a slight lower close to flat. BIDU will announce earnings today, so if you have a profit take it off the table and keep the powder dry.

Earnings for July 20 - 24

This is a current watchlist for July 20 - 24, which not a solication or recommendation of securities for the above list. If targets are hit, take profits and keep your powder dry. Any pullbacks in these companies, could be a major loss(es) to a trading account. Please note CIT is on the list and this is a extremely risky play, due to current market news about the company.

Disclaimer: MCRG may from time to time enter into the above referenced watchlist(s).

Watchlist over $50 - Update

This is an update of Friday, July 17, 2009. As you know today was Options Expiration Day, had a pretty slow day, in the pass this would have been very good or very bad, however, with the markets being timid it is a toss up . . . Oil and Ag sectors were giving us some trouble in the early part of the day and they somewhat turn around at the end of day.

AAPL 147.52 target $150

Milion Capital Research Group - Sold to Close AAPL, at $151.75 +4.23‎ (2.87%‎)

POT 91.58 target $100

Milion Capital Research Group - No Position Held 91.29 -0.29‎ (-0.32%‎)

OXY 67.27 target $70

Milion Capital Research Group - No Position Held 67.75 +0.48 (+0.71%)

SLB 55.48 target $60

Milion Capital Research Group - No Position Held 56.01+0.53 (+0.96%‎)

Even if there is a small profit in this names, you should take them as they come. Market has been running like a cow of a flat rock, it's still a traders market out there. Keep the powder dry. Disclaimer: MCRG may sometimes holds 1-2 day positions in these equitites, this is not a recommendation or solication of securities.

Earnings Here and Gone - GS

Well we got the 5% hit, now it's a wait and see what they say in the conference call at 11:30AM ET. We are looking for a 3%; trading range which would put us at a $154.50 high to $145.50 low at current level. The daily chart is showing a W pattern and if we can take out the $151 level the target range, then we can move higher. 20 and 30 MA support is at $145.

Ear To The Wall: GS - Earnings Time

Well what do we have in store for us next week, interms of earnings in the financial sectors. If was a pretty rough start with Alcoa, we believe that there are no green shoots and the market will play the drop and pop game. Meaning the trending-less day coming into earnings. On Jul 6th our target to the downside was taken out and since then GS has rallied back into the range of $140 $145 per shr level. As of today, GS is resting on the top the breakout pattern created on Jul 9th when BAC analysts said a $170 target is likely to happen. Q2 numbers are suppose to be great, however, buy the rumor and sell the tell.
$135 would a nice level to see again in GS, after the annoucement, in a couple of trading sessions we may see this, it is not in possible to get there.

Baked in earnings range only (Tuesday) of a 5% drop or pop range at current level ($141.87) is $148.96 to the upside, $134.78 to the downside.

Based on past patterns in GS they have done a run and dump on its earning's day, so be carefully and keep the powder dry. Talks of 2nd Stim, Bouses. Stealing of the Secret Sauce, humm. just be careful.

Monday, July 6, 2009

We were looking for the ISM Non-Manufacturing Index at 10PM ET, however the number was positive and did not help us in pushing GS lower from the open. Also, due to light volume, we should've excepted a bounce up and then a continuation of direction in trend. GS was bouncing around like a ball. We (could've-should've) taken open morning profits as the market for GS was down by a full point and change. Any profit is better than a loss. There appears to be more room to the downside for GS. Looking to re-enter on the short side of GS, however, options expiration and earnings are due next week sometime, conference call on 7/16. Let's see where the ball bounces to next. Downside target of $140, and upside $145.

Earnings season is upon us on Wednesday.
