Dollar Tanked
SPY is coming into some resistance at the 111.74 level, more over if we can close above 110.992 and catch a bid to the upside in the next one and half days then 112 is possible relatively quick . . . It appears if we can hold this level gap fill would have the prior gaps from 11/10 - 11/20. Key is for the dollar to drop again for the next one and half days and short covering into the T-Day event, this should be good for the markets . . .
Keep the powder dry . . .

Charts Of The Third Kind

At a glance, the two charts look the same. As in one is going up and the other is going down, Ben and the boys have been propping the dollar. Concerns about the pace of a recovery have dogged the market's eight-month rally but with the nation's unemployment rate now above 10 percent for the first time in 26 years and new worries about housing, the government also will revise its early estimate that said the economy grew.So what is the connection with rise in the dollar and drop in the market (spy), the stronger dollar can hurt commodities prices and sales of U.S. exporters, whose goods become more expensive overseas when the dollar rises.
Will the dollar start to climb and put the spy out of commission for awhile? Amazing!! There was no good Eco-news this week to say the least about and the market ran with it to the downside. Can the govt continue to use these tacky tacky to prop the dollar. If you have ever gone down to the 1 min charts, it is bots wars.
On that note: Volume will be light again next week because of Thanksgiving. Even with the holiday, the week brings a flurry of reports on home sales, unemployment, consumer confidence and demand for big-ticket manufactured goods.
Ding, Ding round $64 thousand dollar question.

PAC-10 Standings
Let's go Oregon!! Up next: At Washington Oct 24. The Oregon coaches are tight-lipped on whether Masoli will be able to return to the lineup. However, Oregon has two weeks to prep for Washington (in Seattle).Audiable Notes: Husky Stadium (72,500): The sound bounces off the roof, rocks the stadium and settles over the playing field. Compared to the Autzen Stadium (54,000): It’s non-stop, eardrum-rattling, jet-engine level, false-start causing noise.

Notable Earning Report - This week
The government's July retail sales data as well as quarterly scorecards from major retailers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N), J.C. Penney (JCP.N) and Macy's (M.N), will give a snapshot of the industry and how consumer spending is faring in the recession. So far, consumers have tightened their belts and shopped mostly for just the bare necessities as worries about job security take precedence

MGM - The DGE issued a report to the New Jersey Commission on its investigation. While the report itself is confidential, at the conclusion of the report, the DGE recommended, among other things, that: (i) the Company's joint venture partner in Macau be found to be unsuitable; (ii) the Company be directed to disengage itself from any business association with its joint venture partner in Macau; (iii) the Company's due diligence/compliance efforts be found to be deficient; and (iv) the New Jersey Commission hold a hearing to address the report. In furtherance of its request that the New Jersey Commission hold a hearing to address the report, on July 27, 2009, the DGE filed a letter with the New Jersey Commission requesting that it reopen the 2005 casino license renewal hearing for Borgata pursuant to applicable New Jersey law. New Jersey law requires that the casino licensing hearings be reopened at the request of the DGE. As a result, the New Jersey Commission will hold an evidentiary hearing on the allegations contained in the report at which time the Company will be able to present evidence and legal argument. There can be no assurance that the outcome of the proceedings will not have a material adverse effect on the Company.

July Closeout
On a positive note: July was a good month for us, as we posted a 44% gain, with 9 trades completed for the month. The above open trades are being rolled over to August, due to the time of a bad execution on our part of re-entry of a call position, in front of housing and Big Ben speech, also the CFTC hearnings which is GS bread and butter. Big Ben is speaking after the markets are closed today, as well. h
Well, we did it anyways and (purchased calls) should have sold them same day for a mere $60 per share profit, however, greed and hope, came into play. Housing numbers were good for a min. and we broke the rule and got caught with our hands in the golden honey pot, like captain hook line and sinker. We thought this was taken care of this greed and hope thing, but we still in a lot of work on it.

Watchlist Update
The watchlist did pretty well, consider this 10% run in the last couple of weeks in trading days, the overall market, 6-month highs. I know it could have gone either way, most of the earnings are superior to the revenues. Meanings all of the analysts numbers are low, but companies are using cost cutting to blowout these numbers the analysts are giving them. Looking at the Revenue side the are either flat or missed.Looking for the market to take some profits off the table going into the weekend, look for a slight lower close to flat. BIDU will announce earnings today, so if you have a profit take it off the table and keep the powder dry.

Please note CIT is on the list and this is a extremely risky play, due to current market news about the company.Disclaimer: MCRG may from time to time enter into the above referenced watchlist(s).

Watchlist over $50 - Update
This is an update of Friday, July 17, 2009. As you know today was Options Expiration Day, had a pretty slow day, in the pass this would have been very good or very bad, however, with the markets being timid it is a toss up . . . Oil and Ag sectors were giving us some trouble in the early part of the day and they somewhat turn around at the end of day.

Earnings Here and Gone - GS
Well we got the 5% hit, now it's a wait and see what they say in the conference call at 11:30AM ET.
